Dr Hamza ZahidEndodontics · Restorative dentistry · Aesthetic dentistry
This case, performed by Dr. Hamza Zahid at Dr. Hamza Dental Center , demonstrates a biomimetic approach to posterior tooth rehabilitation using an Emax (lithium disilicate) overlay. The patient presented with compromised occlusal surfaces requiring functional and aesthetic restoration. A conservative preparation strategy was adopted to preserve the maximum amount of sound tooth structure, reinforcing the remaining dentition with a full-contour ceramic overlay bonded with adhesive protocols. Biomimetic principle: Remove only what is damaged, reinforce what remains, and restore with a material that mimics the optical and mechanical properties of natural enamel and dentin. Emax overlays achieve this by distributing occlusal load across the entire bonded interface rather than concentrating stress at cuspal margins.
